NZ DAG WOOL - 750GSM

New Zealand wool as a weed mat roll offers several benefits for soil health and weed control.

The dag wool roll is made out of short fibre wool often found around the sheep belly and crotch area. Every batch produces a slightly different colour ranging from white to yellow.

Benefits:

  1. Soil Health: The use of 100% New Zealand wool helps the soil flourish by retaining moisture and releasing it when needed. This contributes to improved plant growth.

  2. Weed Suppression: The wool weed mat roll works by blocking out the majority of sunlight, suppressing unwanted regrowth and inhibiting weed growth. This aids in maintaining a weed-free environment for your plants.

  3. Moisture Retention: Wool retains moisture, releasing it back into the soil as needed. This feature helps in maintaining optimal moisture levels for plant growth.

  4. Natural Fertilisation: As the wool eventually breaks down, it releases nutrients back into the soil, acting as a natural fertiliser. This contributes to the long-term health of the soil.

  5. Versatile Applications:

    • Pre-cut Holes for Planting: The weed mat roll can be customized by pre-cutting holes. This allows for easy planting of vegetables directly into the garden bed covered by the mat.

    • Roll it Out as Weed Mat: Alternatively, the roll can be simply rolled out as a weed mat, providing a protective layer against weed growth.

Usage Tips:

  • Weed Removal: It is recommended to remove all existing weeds before placing the wool weed mat for optimal results.

  • Water permeability: Depending on the conditions of your environment, watering underneath the mat be better suited to lock moisture retention underneath. This is due to slower water permeability due to the density of the 750gsm wool

  • Seed Prevention: If the wool rolls are left uncovered, there is a possibility of wind-blown seeds settling on top and sprouting. Monitoring and removing any such sprouts may be necessary.

Product Details:

  • Material: Made from New Zealand dag and oddment wool

  • Density: 750gsm (grams per square meter).

  • Durability Guideline: Expected to last approximately 12 - 24 months, though this may vary either side depending on climatic conditions.

Sizes:

  • 0.8×15m providing flexibility for different landscape needs.

Important Note: For the best results, it is crucial to follow the recommended practices, including weed removal and monitoring for potential wind-blown seeds settling on the wool rolls.
